This is a top-of-the-line speakeasy, if you're looking for the historically accurate aesthetic.

My friend Frankie Greco got to give it a peek recently, and he's quite experienced in the Chicago speakeasy scene, so the review below is based on his experience and expertise.

Bordel is done well. It's something of a middle point between two other well-known speakeasies in town: The Untitled Supper Club and The Drifter.

For context, if you haven't been to either, The Drifter is a small, well hidden, eclectically decorated true-to-form speakeasy with a variety of shows on a small stage. The Untitled Supper Club is a large, grand, fancy multi-room underground bar with a lot of different shows depending on the night.

Bordel feels like the Drifter, but larger, and more uniform in it's design. It's got the classic red upholstery, and the carnival-style show lighting everywhere.

It's genuinely well hidden too. The entrance is a small hidden door that is covered in greenery, after which you need to head up stairs to the second floor.

Inside, it's a party, and it's got two main sections, the front and the back. The back is a bit chiller walk in bar, with the same vibe as the front, but the front is where the party is.

In the front section, you can make a reservation for an hour and a half to see a cabaret / burlesque show. Definitely book a reservation if you want to get your money's worth.

But if you like the drinks and wanna stay, head to the back because they do kick you out of the show chairs after the alloted 90-minute timeslot.

Highly recommend - it's hard to find these kinds of experiences in Chicago, but The Drifter may be another location you want to peek if it's your style.
